Simple Lesson : instanceof in Javascript

I have simple lesson again, when I still write program using javascript.We know that in Javascript, we can assign variable a value like this.

var ProgrammingName = "Javascript";

So, what the meaning instanceof.instanceof mean, is it variable instance of the type or function in Javascript. In another programming languange, we can declare variable with the type like this.

int i;
String name;

Example above different in javascript. We must using "new" keyword for declaration variable like.

var ProgrammingName = new String("Javascript");

What happen if we use instanceof in two type declaration of javascript.

var ProgrammingName = "Javascript";
ProgrammingName instanceof String; // return false

var ProgrammingName = new String("Javascript");
ProgrammingName instanceof String; // return true

Maybe after this we can use instanceof right,correct me if wrong.

I still write program with Javascript, and I have problem how to calculate Date,which I want add month in Date.I want to explain like this. If I have date 05-22-2011, I want to add 9 month in my date.
To solve problem above, we can some way.First way is like this.

var currMonth=currDate.getMonth();
var currDate = currDate.getDate();

var yearAfterAdd;
var newDateAfterAdd;

currMonth = currMonth + 9
monthAfterAdd = currMonth % 12
yearAfterAdd = currYear + ((currMonth - monthAfterAdd) / 12)
newDateAfterAdd = monthAfterAdd + "-" + currDate + "-" + yearAfterAdd

But for the simple program, we can write like this;

var ourDate=new Date();
ourDate.setDate.getMonth() + 9

Simple Lesson : Alternatif Calculate Shift Operator

Hi, I have simple lesson when I try to use shift operator for my program.When I visit a site, I found calculation from shift operator in arithmetic operator.
We know there is two type of shift operator, shift left and shift right.Shift left to move some bit to left,shift right to move some bit to right.
8 >> 3,it's mean move 3 bit to right, so the result is 1 in integer.In binary it's mean like this :
8 in binary is 1000, after that move three bit to right become 1 in binary, in decimal the result is 1.
There is another alternative for calculate above operation, look at this, for the shift right operator, x >> y mean x / 2 ^ y, and for the shift left operator, x << y mean x * 2 ^ y.
For the above explanation we can see like this.
8 >> 3 equal with 8 / 2 ^ 3 and 8 << 3 equal with 8 * 2 ^ 3.
